About this plan

Couch to 5k builds you up from walking to running 30 minutes without stopping, over nine weeks and three runs a week. This plan sets up the sessions as repeating tasks, with a small warm-up, stretch and check-in around each week.

Start by checking with your GP or doctor, especially if you have a health condition or haven't exercised for a while. The run and walk intervals for each week come from the NHS Couch to 5K plan, so use that alongside this list.

Copy it into Tatask and the weeks are dated from today. If you miss a session, carry on from where you were rather than starting again.

What's in this plan

See every step
  • Before you start (day 0)
    • Check with your GP or doctor before you start

Do this first if you have a health condition, are returning after illness or injury, or have any doubts about starting to run.

    • Buy running shoes that fit

A specialist running shop can look at how you run and suggest a pair.

    • Choose a flat, well-lit route near home
    • Pick your three running days, with a rest day between each

Paste this into an AI assistant to fit runs around your week.
